Samsung Galaxy SIII can be Used as a Hotel Room Key or TV Remote Control at the Olympics

Samsung has always been the center of innovation. The official sponsor for this year’s Olympics launched an aggressive marketing strategy to promote their flagship model, the Galaxy S III. After several devices have been given away for free to competitors, it’s time for another way to make the powerful device seem even more attractive.

The Galaxy S III can now be used as a keycard at London’s Stratford Holiday Inn hotel during the Games. Courtesy of a a collaboration with the hotel, 40 rooms have been equipped with a technology that allows the smartphone to do just about everything: check in and out, order room service, unlock doors and control the TV,  lights, and air conditioning without having to move. The service is offered only to VIP guests. Meanwhile, we look forward to seeing this technology used in other places, with apps that make it all work offered on the Play Store.
