Smartphone making your life a lot easier. We have already seen Viper SmartStart Android Application which allow to control your Car. How about opening garage door? Well, now you can do that too! Xda member JsChiSurf developed an application called OpenSezMe which let him open the garage door by pressing a virtual button on his Android Smartphone.
Having an old Linux box running as a mail / web server in the garage, he comes up with idea and connected cheap serial port relay controller to Linux box’s rs232 port and to the Garage door opener. Finally he wrote a set of serial port communication classes in PHP for sending the necessary commands out the serial port, as outlined in the relay controller’s specs, for toggling the relay on/off.
After all the initial setup OpenSezMe Android Application let him open the door simply pressing a button. For security reason he also add a pin-code requirement in OpenSezMe app to get access and using google maps he also add the specific range, so he wouldn’t be able to open the door while he is not close enough to the garage. If you think the description above is confusing, checkout the video below it’s got all the details:
Unfortunately the OpenSezMe Android Application is not available for Us. We hope the great idea will be catch attention and some professional company will work together to develop a simple kit to use in the garage which can be control by OpenSezMe Android App. source.
