It’s not been easy for Sony to keep their promise and update the entire 2011 line-up of devices to Android ICS. The all favorite gaming smartphone, the Xperia Play was even left behind as Sony announced that device will stay on Gingerbread, due to performance issues. The latest devices from the Japanese manufacturer, like the Xperia S, even tough a 2012 model were shipped with Gingerbread and updates were planed in the near future. Meanwhile, a new version of Android has now been released. What will Sony do about Jelly bean Update for Sony Ericsson Xperia Phones?
A Sony mobile rep on company’s UK Facebook page detailed Jelly bean Update for Sony Ericsson Xperia Phones, confirmed that the Xperia Arc S and Xperia Mini Pro will not be updated to Android Jelly Bean. As for the Xperia S, he stated that ”ICS should now be approved” for the device, which means that even if the device is planned to get Jelly Ben, it will be a long time till it is released. Though this is not quite official info, we are curious to see how Sony will plan their updates to Android 4.1, while they still ship some of the new devices, running 2.3 Gingerbread.
