Nook Color running Andorid 3.0 Honeycomb Videos and News going over last week. Finally xda member deeper-blue decided to release what he have so far for us to have some fun. He had already managed to enable support for the touchscreen, accelerometer, hardware buttons, wireless connectivity, and even graphic acceleration for Andorid 3.0 SDK extract for Nook Color. There is a few things yet to be completed. Along with deeper-blue now few more Developers contributing in the project. Hopefully soon we will get most stable version of Honeycomb image for Nook Color. Take a look at the list below for current status of the project:
What works:
-Graphics acceleration
-Accelerometer
-Wireless!
-Touchscreen
-Buttons
-Sleep/Wakeup stuff
Doesn’t work:
-Sound (sadly! Despite my efforts the last hours I didn’t get it working properly yet)
-DSP e.g. no hardware video decoding
The whole thing is based on the honeycomb emulator images, the B&N V1.1 kernel+modules+driver, pieces from the upcoming CM7 and manual patching ARM assembler in libraries and writing ugly scripts to hack around various issues.
How to install: Use this on your own risk! We are not responsible for any damages!
First get the Honeycomb image file using a torrent client from http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/6143531 or download from http://www.rbrune.de/nookhoney01.img.zip
Installing Andorid 3.0 Honeycomb SDK extract image on Nook Color is very simple. Root is not required. Simply use a disk imager to load the extracted 4GB image file onto an SD card and insert it into your NOOKcolor. The Android 3.0 build runs directly off of the memory card and will revert back to your previous build once you reboot your NOOKcolor after removing the microSD card.
