Google Ex-CEO Eric Schmidt just answered a question about Android versions and fragmentation from an attendee at Mobile World Congress in Tuesday’s keynote address presentation. Some important information come along with at for next version of Andorid OS Ice Cream Sandwich will combine current Gingerbread and Honeycomb. Here what he says:
Today I’ll use the commonly used names. We have OS called gingerbread for phones, we have an OS being previewed now for tablets called Honeycomb. The two of them… you can imagine the follow up will start with an I, be named after dessert, and will combine these two.
We assume the new OS will be available for both Android Smartphone and mid-range Android Tablet. Schmidt also discussed that we will be seeing a 6-month OS refresh cycle, so the next Andorid Ice Cream Sandwich coming in Six months.
