Yes, Finally Gingerbread Update for Smasung Galaxy S, Vibrant and Fascinate on March 30thYes, finally Gingerbread Update for Samasung Galaxy S,  Vibrant and Fascinate is happening. Last week Samsung Romania confirmed that Gingerbread should arrived March 20th but some issue in Kies which will deliver the Update make the delay. Official Samsung Galaxy S page just post a message to it’s user asking to Update Kies with the latest version Released V 2.0.0.11032_12. To answer a question they also mentioned that: “You Need this Update to be able to Get the 2.3.2 Update to your Samsung Galaxy S, Vibrant, Facinate. The 2.2.1 Froyo Update not For everyone Only for Italy, Romania, Germany. 2.3.2 will be Worldwide but carriers will be Delayed.”

Gingerbread for Samsung Galaxy S, Vibrant, Fascinate next week

 The Samsung Galaxy S is an Android based smartphone that was announced by Samsung in March 2010. It has a 1 GHz ARM ”Hummingbird” processor, 8  to16 GB internal flash memory, a 4 inches (10 cm) 480×800 pixel Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, Wi-Fi connectivity, a 5-megapixel camera with a maximum resolution of 2560×1920 and, on select models, a front-facing 0.3 MP VGA camera with resolution of 640×480 pixel.

An Android 2.3 (“Gingerbread”) update for Samsung Galaxy S became available for Nordic countries, The Netherlands and Germany on April 16, 2011. The update reached UK, India and HongKong by  Nov, 2011. The update was received in Singapore in June and  Australia in August. For other countries it is expected to be available later. The update was released for the Samsung Galaxy S 4G on November 15.  As of December 1, 2011, the Samsung Fascinate on Verizon has been updated to Gingerbread 2.3

Andorid 2.3.2 Gingerbread Update is expected to release on March 30th for international Galaxy S i900 through Kies, and carrier depended version should get it later. To be able to get Kies Update Released V 2.0.0.11032_12, Disable Firewall, Anti-virus or any Security Software and Check for Updates.       I worked for Verizon Wireless for 5 years until they laid me off to outsource to a cheaper state ie. Idaho and Texas.
      But yeah, FUCK Verizon, all they want is your money, they give a shit about supporting the handset with updates.

    Wow here in Canada we already have 2.2 froyo for a long time now. I hope we get the 2.3 as soon as Europe does :) .

    Update for gingerbread 2.3 via kies is still not available in here (asia)…xda-developers have the 2.3.3 leak…hmm…

    I am also from Canada, I got the patch installed today but I am getting no Android 2.3.2 firmware update.
    If you see this message can you confirm that indeed you got 2.3.2?
    Maybe you installed 2.2…

    Its defiantly 2.3.2, I updated to 2.2.1 as soon as it was available on kies as well.

      I have Galaxy S Fascinate with Telus.
      I checked every day and nothing comes down as an update.
      I have latest version of Kies.
      Just for checking could you let me know which version of Kies you are using and from where you downloaded it?

      Can you image that and submit to XDA-Developers :)

    My phone is doing the backup right now as we speak and then going to be doing an update. I was running 2.2 Froyo so I really hope I get the new 2.3.3 or whatever.

    Could you please confirm the following:
    - Phone model
    - Telecom company
    - Country

    I am in Canada, with Telus and I have a Fascinate 3G+
    I check every single day if an update comes down the pipe and nothing comes so far as an upgrade.
    I called Telus and asked them if they have an ETA for this upgrade. I got a surprising answer from them:
    - We also do not know. We wait for Samsung to tell us.

    I also looked around to other models and most of the phones are in 2.2 Android. Few of the phones are in 2.3.3; not to speak about the fact that the release of the Android 2.3.4 is imminent.

    My take on this entire situation is this one:
    - We better buy a Nexus and get the automatic update directly from Google since Android 2.3 has update enabled. Or these Telecom companies is upgrading our phones to 2.3 and from there on we get ourselves this update from Google.

    I am really sick of these Telecom companies which are forcing us to be stuck with a older version of os.

    I talked to a rep at Samsung today and he said he was told to say that they do not know when an update for the Vibrant in the US will be released.

    Hi,

    I was looking around to see which are the news regarding Android os. It seems not very far from now Google will come with a new version of Android having the same UI across all devices.
    That means, the manufacturers of these phones will not be so interested to go on several software releases (Android 2.3.3 or 2.3.4, etc); they will rather wait for this new release of Android os.

    to get gingerbread on samsung vibrant you have to update it by samsung kies mini i just did so right now

      Hi thatKid1,

      I tried Kies Mini and it doesn’t work with Samsung Fascinate 3G. Maybe for Vibrant works as you mentioned.

      In any case the last version of Samsung Fascinate 4G available on Telus (Canada) is still at 2.2. So Samsung is long due to come up with 2.3. I think they would push 2.3.4 since this is the latest version of Android.
      I am pretty sure August will go by and we will not still have 2.3 on our phones.

      Also, if you look at how many smartphones Samsung has in production you will understand what a serious development process they are doing since they also customize a lot the Android GUI.
      I takes time…

      The whole issue is in fact related to this:
      - Wait for the customized manufacturer version of Android
      OR
      - Go with stock Android from Google or CM7.

    Hi,

    Just to confirm that Android 2.3.3 is already available on Kies for Samsung Fascinate (Telus) here in Canada. Just got it on 20 August 2011.

    I hope everyone else on Fascinate feels much happier after such a long delay.

    Telus here too. Kies reports a firmware update is available, but the firmware upgrade fails because the updater crashes. Not sure if it is related but as soon as the upgrade starts the “connected devices” shows that the device becomes disconnected.

    Googling this problem shows it happens *a lot*. After the embarrassment of the Froyo upgrade I guess they haven’t learned and serve the same crappy Kies software.

      Hi,

      It depends what telecom provider you are with…
      But, if you have installed Kies you should get it, I think for Vibrant.
      Install Kies and see if will tell you there is an update.

    With the Mini Kies , he do the upgrade only to android 2.2 , and he say , that the phone is alreaday updated –” !!

    Hello everybody … i’m still waiting for the update here in moldova … my samsung vibrant 3g (t959) was updated to 2.2 UBK5 froyo but gingerbread is still unavaible .. when i will get the ginger update ????? other galaxy s phones like i9000 recieved it … t-mobile and samsung im disappointed..
