Confirmed Update to Jelly Bean for the Galaxy SIII After August 29. Download New Official Build Leaked

Samsung released the official statement about Samsung Galaxy S III Jelly Bean Update a while ago. Since then rumors suggested Android 4.1 is already being tested for the device. We previously informed you that the update could arrive as soon as later this month. First piece of solid info comes from Android Central who state that the Android 4.1 Update for Galaxy S III will arrive on August 29. The international version of the handset will be updated next week after the Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin. Their info comes from sources familiar with Samsung’s plans so let’s give them some credit for now. This info confirms previous rumors about the Galaxy S III update.

While the Jelly Bean release for the Samsung flagship device could be just a week away, you might able to enjoy Android 4.1 on your device right now. It hasn’t been long since first major leak of Jelly Bean ROM for the Galaxy S III were available. Users were given the opportunity to try out the latest features of the OS by flashing the test version Samsung has prepared. XDA Developers got their hands on another Android 4.1 build for the Galaxy S III. I think it’s safe to assume this is a version closer to the final release. The new version build number is XXDLH6  dated 2012.08.21. To flash the new ROM you will need to running the latest official OTA update of Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich from Samsung. Once these requirements have been met you can Download Jelly Bean for the Galaxy S III and flash the new ROM using Odin. Head over to the XDA Developers dedicated thread for detailed installing instructions and user opinions.
