HTC’s custom skin for Android is called SENSE. It’s latest implementation has been brought to the manufacturer’s One Series of devices and is designed for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. HTC Sense 4 on the HTC One X has been appreciated by most for its design. But also criticized for slowing down the OS and causing lag from time to time, which is unacceptable for a quad-core high-end device as the One X. Though the manufacturer has released some updates to correct these issues, the general slowdown of the OS is still felt in Sense 4.0.
A leaked version of Sense 4.1 for the international (quad-core) version of the HTC One X has been integrated by a developer at XDA into a custom ROM called Download HTC One maxims V2.2 ROM which looks very promising. Leaked version 2.15.401.5 includes some fixes, like the removal of lags on Live Wallpaper, a dedicated button added in the camera app to switch between front and back camera, a dedicated button added to the browser to switch tabs and all 3-D effects were removed from the launcher to remove the lag.
The custom ROM based on Android 4.0.4 latest version of ICS. A custom kernel is also included for faster speeds. This configuration managed to get a score close to 6000 points in Quadrant benchmark. The ROM also offering longer battery life then the stock firmware.
