By now Android users are concerned about the latest Android 2.3.4 update coming in next few weeks from Google. But if you own a Samsung Nexus S, how about getting the Android 2.3.4 and Google Talk Video goodies rather than waiting for the OTA in few weeks. In courtesy of Android Central forum you can enjoy the latest version of Gingerbread 2.3.4 right now on Nexus S. Hit the download link then follow the instruction below:
UPDATE: Update 4/30/11: Those of you with GRI54 (another 2.3.3 variant) can now try to update to 2.3.4 as well – I’ve updated the instructions accordingly. This update was not confirmed as working or tested by me in any way, so it may not work at all. I’ve seen reports on the Internet that it doesn’t go through for quite a few people. Download the update file GRJ22-from-GRI40 if you have GRI40 or GRJ22-from-GRI54 if you have GRI54 and rename it to update.zip (make sure it’s named update.zip and not update.zip.zip if you’re using Windows and have it set to hide file extensions).
How to Install Android 2.3.4 on Samsung Nexus S:
- Place the downloaded .zip file on the root of your internal storage
- Shut down your phone, and reboot into the bootloader by holding volume up and powering back on
- Use the volume buttons to choose “recovery” from the list, and select it with the power button
- When you see the triangle on your screen, hold power and then press volume up and you’ll have a list of options, choose the file to update
Just in case, do a backup of your phone first then go ahead on your own responsibilities. For more info you may visit the original forum thread at source link. Stay tuned with us at Facebook and Twitter to keep yourself updated on latest Android 2.3.4. via. source.
