4G alliance between Automotive industry and Verizon brings tablets to cars in the US

In order to bring 4G LTE connectivity in cars across the States, Verizon Wireless along with major auto makers have formed what is called the 4G Venture Forum for Connected Cars. The new group includes major auto brands like: BMW, Toyota, Honda, Kia and Hyundai. Verizon Wireless has the strongest 4G LTE network in the States and makes a vital contribution to the new alliance. It is interesting to see the big American automobile companies are missing from the list… MIT also participate in this project and is to implement the remote media access from the car, plus security systems online and support for third party software. The standard set by this project will not only affect car manufacturers, but also components, mobile devices , content and applications manufacturers. The real problem with this new devices in our cars will be regarding safety issues. It is hard to focus on the road with fast internet and so many apps available in your automobile.
